Welcome to my new blog! Here you will find information and pictures about some of my photo sessions, as well as occasional snippets from our family life. I have three wonderful daughters who are the original source of my portrait photography journey as well as my constant inspiration. I'm not the best writer. In fact, I'm pretty terrible at writing. But, I will learn and grow as a blogger much the same way that I am continuing to learn and grow as a photographer. Please leave me a comment or two! I LOVE hearing from you!
It never ceases to amaze me the energy that kids have. Why is it we adults don't have even half as much as they do? This gorgeous little girl was so full of spunk she barely sat still for 2 seconds. I really had a blast with her at her session, pretending to be a kid and running around as if I were one, then crashing afterwards in sheer exhaustion and delight. Her beautiful smile and laughter was infectious indeed. Here's a peek at some of her photos!
It's a special time when families are together, when cousins get to run around laughing and making memories and when grandparents get to enjoy their newly expanded families. I had the joy of photographing a family including the grandparents, their two sons and their respective families. The two sons, brothers, and their families were about to embark on a journey across the United States to work as traveling nurses for an extended period of time. Before they left their Mom wanted one thing, a picture of all of them together. They afternoon was rather warm with the sun shining brightly and the wind blowing strongly. Here's a peek at some of their pictures together.
These adorable kids came in again for a second session with me. H had turned four years old and S was sitting up; time for new portraits! I had recently purchased some new backdrops and was excited about trying them out, so I asked the kids' Grandmother to bring something to match a turquoise background as well as the color grey. I love the bright color of the turquoise and I love how understated the grey is! Here's a few of my favorite portraits from this session.
My cousin's SIL had her first baby recently and asked me to take some newborn portraits for her. I was thrilled with the opportunity, of course. Baby S came in to my studio when he was just 13 days old. He was pretty sleepy and generally very calm, not crying much at all. But, he was quite a restless sleeper. His Mom stated that he is always moving and wiggling which meant that getting him into specific poses was rather difficult. I decided to just go with it and direct him as much as I could while letting him just be comfortable and be "him." Here's a few images from his newborn session.
One of my friends brought her little boy over for a few pictures two weeks ago. After having three girls they decided to try for one my child and they were blessed to have a little boy, though they would have happily welcomed a girl. He's just so stinkin' cute and I can tell that his big sisters think he's pretty special. Here's a few pictures from his 5-month session.
This is the first session that I have done on a baby other than a newborn where I only used window light. I LOVE the way the soft light wraps around the subject but I'm not so fond of the irregular catchlights in the baby's eyes. I guess there's a trade off. But, I really adore these images and aren't his outfits just perfect??
